Due to the heavy rainfall in May, the Mürzsteg area returned to mudflows. As a preventive safeguard, the state of Styria, in partnership with the company RESCO, has built a 50m long protective wall, consisting of RESCO System Blocks, in order to be prepared for further storms. The 50m long and 75cm high protective barrier was built in 2.5 hours.
